Robert (Bob) Anderson

It is now abundantly clear that the human race is living beyond its means. A report supported by 1,360 scientists from 95 countries - some of them world leaders in their fields - has warned that almost two-thirds of the natural machinery that supports life on Earth is being degraded by human pressure. The study contains "a stark warning" for the entire world. The wetlands, forests, savannahs, estuaries, coastal fisheries and other habitats that recycle air, water and nutrients for all living creatures are being irretrievably damaged. In effect, our species, humanity, is now a hazard to the other 10 million or so on the planet, and to itself.

It is becoming increasingly clear that these warnings are real and that our world is facing an imminent global crisis. Our oceans are dying and the environment in which we live is rapidly becoming polluted. Together with global heating effects water will become dangerously short in many populated areas of the globe. Biodiversity is a major concern. Biodiversity is most often thought of as the variety of organisms on earth. But it also includes two other factors: ecological diversity - the variety of ecosystems and ecological communities. And genetic diversity - the range of genetic differences found within and between species. All three aspects are crucial for the success and development of life on earth. Since environmental conditions at every level are constantly changing, only diversity can ensure that some individuals and species will be able to adapt to the changes. And all three have profound value for human beings. Each and every one of us must make some effort to educate ourselves to these dangers and make every effort to prevent further deterioration of our worlds resources. One of the dangers we face is pollution of the worlds gene pool. The Mexican corn races have already suffered. The Final Pollution is an expose of this industries drive to force GE into our world.

How Industry manipultates Science and gambles with your food and future.

Truth has always been subversive. If this were not the case, governments would not go to such extreme lengths to hide it. As George Orwell put it: During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act. Nowhere is this truth more evident than in the area of genetic engineering biotechnology. Many scientists, starting out on pure research, have found themselves entangled in the economic potential of their research. Good science, driven by honesty and concern for the common good, has been appropriated by corporate greed, media manipulation and the denigration of scientists whose views happen to be uncomfortable to the viewpoints of an industry or government. Today, speaking out on genetic engineering is more often than not career suicide for scientists. GE technology has brought GE foods, mice growing human ears, grass that barely grows, fish many times their natural size, drugs, pharmaceuticals and industrial chemicals produced in food crops, medical therapies and even the potential to engineer our children. In this, my sixth book, I exposes the corporate greed behind the world drive to establish monopolisation of the world's food supply through GE crops.
